Monday we talked about captains, winning teams and winning back-to-back seasons.
So why the ‘captains’ analogy? Because your talent alone will never – I repeat never make you a leader.
However, your ability to respect every single member on your team and appreciate them will take you to the most important playing position in your field – captain and leader. This is not a competition, but it is a lifelong journey of becoming someone that makes a difference in your surroundings.
Take time today to reflect on your experiences of the last week, and if you didn’t make a point to acknowledge the success of others, make it your goal today to find someone- hopefully more than one someone, this weekend.
This isn’t a simple habit to make. It is not made over night. Start today and take joy in realizing this has amazing short and long-term rewards. There’s really no losing when you appreciate others. People rarely get angry when you sincerely make them feel good about themselves.
