Friday check in:
We’ll make this short because this week’s challenge was extremely simple. Did you power down during your phone calls? Did it make a difference?
Believe it or not, people can hear whether or not someone is listening, even when they can’t see you. Don’t be fooled into multitasking while on the phone. It will come back to hit you, and when it does occur to your clients, team members or loved ones that you aren’t someone who is present with them, you will be the someone they stop calling. That may seem like a great thing! More time to yourself! However, a leader makes others a top priority. There are no exceptions to this. The living, breathing people in front of you or on the phone with you always take priority.
Practice this on the weekend. It is worth your time. It is through small, seemingly insignificant choices that we become leaders. Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.
