Around ten years ago, I had the opportunity to do some coaching work at a major healthcare organization. Since then, I have been blessed with multiple situations, in many institutions, that have taught me what personifies passion and dedication:
A multi-month project on a PICU, with an amazing nurse manager and and equally amazing staff.
Another project with a Labor and Delivery unit. Again, superb leadership and a charge nurse team that was brilliant in both depth of experience and willingness to teach and learn from one another.
An ED engagement, again showing what experience and passion can bring to the table.
The opportunity to work with a nurse manager team as they taught each other leadership and grew as leaders.
Seeing nurse leaders take the initiative to develop approaches and protocols that allowed their work and the work of the physician team to greatly improve.
Working with CNOs over this past decade that have taught me so much.
And, in several incidences with family members, being cared for, advocated for, and healed, by the nursing touch.
So, as we are halfway through nurses week, I stand and applaud those superb professionals that have taught me so very much and touched my life in profound ways.
May your Nurse’s Week hopefully let you know just how much of an impact you make!!
